 The Ministry of Health has named the members of the Pharmacy Council of Guyana Board who began serving from 1st April 2024 until 31st March 2026:

Dr Karishma Jeeboo – Chairperson

Position: Chair, Pharmacy Council of Guyana; Second Vice President and Education Chair, Caribbean Association of Pharmacists; Senior Lecturer and Director, School of Pharmacy, University of Guyana


Qualifications: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD); Registered Pharmacist


My Passion: I am passionate about advancing pharmacy education, research, and clinical practice to improve patient care and health outcomes. My interests include pharmacotherapy and pharmacy practice research in diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and cancer, alongside strengthening professional leadership and evidence-based policy.

Carol-Ann Lam– Vice Chairperson

Position: Vice-Chair, Pharmacy Council of Guyana;  Registered Pharmacist; Divisional Manager-Health & Wellness Ansa Mcal Distribution Inc


Qualifications: ASc Degree in Pharmacy & BSc Degree in Pharmacy, Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management, MBA, MSc (awaiting conveyance); Business Management, Data Analytics & LCSM Certificates, UWI


My Passion: I am passionate about raising awareness on the critical role of pharmacy practice in optimizing health outcomes and endeavor to utilize my professional experiences to foster better cross-functional collaborations between private and public sector stakeholders. I am especially focused on ethical medication sourcing and dispensing practices and raising awareness about substandard and falsified medications and the risks to public health.

I am committed to fostering improved pharmaceutical governance, pharmacovigilance, rational drug use and advocating for robust professional stewardship to enhance pharmacy practice in Guyana. 

Ms. Shundell Seymour-Williams, RPh

Position: Chair, Internship Committee, Pharmacy Council of Guyana; Vice President, Guyana Pharmacists Association; Second Vice President and Education Chair, Caribbean Association of Pharmacists; Pharmacy Proprietor


Qualifications: BSc in Pharmacy; BSc in Management; Diploma in Marketing


My Passion: I am committed to the development of competent, ethical pharmacists and to strengthening pharmacy practice through education, mentorship, and professional leadership. My experience spans hospital, community, and pharmaceutical distribution practice.

Mrs. Mary Ramsaroop

 Position: Chair, Education Committee, Pharmacy Council of Guyana; Part-Time Tutor, University of Guyana


Qualifications: BSc in Pharmacy with Distinction; Associate of Science Degree in Pharmacy


My Passion: I have a strong passion for learning and imparting knowledge to others. Patient care is central to my professional practice, and I am committed to advancing pharmacy education, professional development, and regulatory excellence.

Ms. Zoe Grenville-Forde

Position: Council Member, Pharmacy Council of Guyana (Disciplinary, Regulatory and Education Committees)


Qualifications: BSc in Pharmacy; MBA (Logistics and Supply Chain Management)


My Passion:I am motivated, hardworking, and creative, with a strong passion for people and quality service. I am committed to continuous learning, professional growth, and contributing meaningfully to the advancement of pharmacy practice and regulation.

Ms. Claudia Hinds

Position: Council Member, Pharmacy Council of Guyana; Clinical Pharmacist, Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation


Qualifications: BSc in Pharmacy; Master of Public Administration (MPA)


My Passion:I am passionate about strengthening the quality of pharmacy practice within the public sector, both clinically and ethically. My focus is on ensuring that patients receive optimal, safe, and effective pharmaceutical care.

Dr. Erica Ward

Position: Registrar/Secretary, Pharmacy Council of Guyana; Inspectorate Compliance Coordinator, Government Analyst–Food and Drug Department


Qualifications: BSc in Pharmaceutical Science; MBA; PhD in Management


My Passion:I am passionate about strengthening pharmaceutical governance, regulatory systems, and public service. With extensive experience in drug regulation and quality assurance, I am committed to upholding professional standards, supporting effective regulatory frameworks, and contributing to policies that protect public health and ensure the safety, quality, and appropriate use of medicines.

Mr. Sookdeo Singh

Position: Council Member, Pharmacy Council of Guyana; Regional Pharmacist, Region Two


Qualifications: Associate of Science Degree in Pharmacy; over 23 years’ experience in hospital and community pharmacy practice; extensive training in pharmacovigilance, rational drug use, antimicrobial resistance, LMIS, HEARTS hypertension and diabetes management; former practitioner in the British Virgin Islands


My Passion: I am passionate about improving the quality of pharmacy practice in the public sector, with a strong focus on ethical practice, patient safety, and optimal therapeutic outcomes.

Dr. Narine Singh

Position: Council Member, Pharmacy Council of Guyana; Chief Medical Officer, Ministry of Health


Qualifications: MBBS; Postgraduate Certificate in Infectious Diseases; Master of Public Health (MPH); Master of Medicine (MMed) in Obstetrics and Gynecology


My Passion: I am passionate about advancing women’s health, strengthening maternal and reproductive health services, and improving national health systems through evidence-based policy, clinical excellence, and medical education. With over 20 years of service, I remain committed to improving health outcomes across Guyana.

Mr. Khame Sharma

Position: Council Member, Pharmacy Council of Guyana; Registered Pharmacist; Former Deputy Director, Government Analyst–Food and Drug Department; Former Registrar, Pharmacy and Poisons Board; Former Councillor, Mayor and City Council of Georgetown


Qualifications: BSc in Biology; Diploma in Pharmacy; Diploma in Education Science; Postgraduate Qualifications


My Passion: I am passionate about strengthening pharmaceutical governance, regulatory systems, and public service. My work is driven by a commitment to professional standards, effective regulation, and the protection of public health.

Ms. Nakesha Cosbert

Position: Council Member, Pharmacy Council of Guyana; Council Member, Medical Termination of Pregnancy Advisory Board; Legal Officer, Ministry of Health


Qualifications: Legal Education Certificate, Hugh Wooding Law School; Bachelor of Laws (LLB); Diploma in Social Work


My Passion: I am committed to supporting sound health governance through legal guidance, ethical decision-making, and strong regulatory oversight. I am passionate about protecting patient rights and strengthening legal frameworks within the healthcare system.
